An Introduction to why it is necessary to define the current state of the American Republic

The recent financial crisis and subsequent 700 billion dollar bailout really infuriated me, as it did a lot of other Americans as well.  It made me start to think “what is the current state of our American republic?”  The more I thought about it the more I realized that the current state of our republic is a pathetic one.   We have allowed two parties – Democrat and Republican – to get control of our political system.  Year in and year out we elect members from both parties to the presidency, the senate, congress, local government, state government, governorships, etc.  What do we get in return for our vote?  What we have received is trillions in public debt, partisanship, greed, corruption, lobbyists, earmarks, a huge federal government, massive entitlements, career politicians, and the list goes on and on.

My pulse of the American people is that they have had enough of this from both parties and that they are ready for “change.”  And when I talk about change don’t think for a minute that I am thinking the kind that Senator Obama is going to try and push through.  I mean fundamental change in which we remove both parties and start over with a new political party that will restore our republic.  Why do I think that this is possible?  A recent Rasmussen poll notes that 59% of Americans would kick the current congress out and start over!  The reason that this has not been done is that the people don’t feel as if they have any other options.  They get wrapped up in their daily lives and think “how can I change the system when the politicians have all the political power, influence, and money?”   But one thing they do not have is the power to make you vote a certain way, because once you, I, or any citizen get in the ballot box it is just us and the vote – no focus groups, no political advertisements, no speeches, no rallies – just the voter, the ballot, and your vote and that is why we the people will always have the ultimate power over government.

In the coming days, weeks, and months, I will be releasing a series on the current state of the American Republic.  I will be blogging on this site and a lot more.  I will also be emailing my series to people in the media and trying to get my word out through any venue that I can.  Anyone that is of like mind, I would encourage you to communicate with me and stay in touch with me.  For the ultimate power in this movement will be in our numbers, we must build a force that is to be reckoned with, one that will shake Washington DC to its very core.  This will not be easy and I am sure that there will be numerous setbacks along the way  - but if 13 colonies defeated the British Empire and formed the greatest Republic in the history of mankind, then we can take back this great Republic and restore her to her glory.

Please feel free to communicate with me through this forum or at federalist08@yahoo.com.
